PROFESSOR WJ McG (Greg) TEGART, AM FTSE FIE Aust P ENG

Professor Tegart has had a varied career.  He commenced in government research in Australia, then moved to an academic research and teaching in the UK and USA.  He returned to Australia to run an industrial research laboratory and then moved into administration of Government research and high level policy advice to Government on science, technology and environment.

He is a fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, and is a member of the Council of the Academy.  As Chairman of its International Relations Committee, he has been active in promoting links and cooperation with the Academies of Engineering and like bodies, particularly in the Asian region.  He is a Foreign Member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.  In 1992, he became a Member of the Order of Australia for services to science and technology.

He currently holds the position Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Victoria University of Technology,  Melbourne.
