English Abstract
The IT for SMEs project was initiated
by the Ministry of Industry, Department
of Industrial Promotion (DIP), in year 2000. The project
was led by Mr. Polratana Piathanom, Managing General of Tele-engineering
and Services with the joint coordination of the working group of the Department
of Industrial Promotion, Ministry
of Industry, Thailand. The purposes of the project were to promote
the Role of Information Technology among SMEs and to determine through
consensus what DIP policies and plans to promote use of IT would be beneficial
to the SMEs. The key foresight method used was Delphi Survey with two-rounds.
It was sent to 2,000 SMEs in three areas of the industry: Automobiles,
Electronics, and Food. To increase participationrate and also to disseminate
knowledge of IT benefits to SMEs, the project organized four regional
seminars.
